This was the conclusion of an international team of investigators from several institutions: U. East Anglia, U. Cambridge, U. Islândia, and other partners, namely SPVS, after more of 10 years of studies. In an article now published in the Journal of Ecology Magazine, this team has quantified for the first time the cost and benefits of migratory shorebirds who spend time there breeding in different parts of their distribution, demonstrating that Portugal can be a very beneficial destination for some of these birds.
