On the 8th through the 10th of April 2013, Setúbal hosted the 27th European Cetacean SocietyInternational Conference. This year's conference theme was "Interdisciplinary Approaches in the study of marine mammals".
The conference held about 500 participants from 26 diferent countries, 75 oral presentations took place and 230 posters were presented. Moreover, several workshops were conducted and brought together international experts to discuss specific topics related to the study of marine mammals.
Several works under de LIFE+ MarPro Project, were presented at the conference and on the workshop "Best Practices for the Rescue of Marine Mammals". Thus a poster named "Variability in the diet of common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) and prey availability along the Portuguese continental coast" was presented along with two oral presentations. Namely:
- "Legal and ethical aspects of Marine Animal rescue and rehabilitation in Portugal"
- "Data recording and sample gathering from the live animal for research".
