Several actions within project LIFE+ MarPro include the evaluation of interactions between cetaceans and the different fishing gears. The occurrence of interactions is oftem detected through post-mortem analyses of stranded animals along the the Portuguese coast. Since July 2013, post-mortem analyses within the LIFE+ Project MarPro are also being used to collect data and samples to be studied in Project CetSenti (FCT, COMPETE programme and FEDER. The CetSenti project is the first systematic effort for assessing population status and health of coastal cetacean species in Portugal and Galicia, integrating teams from the Universidade de Aveiro (DBio/CESAM), Universidade do Minho (CBMA), Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária), Sociedade Portuguesa de Vida Selvagem (SPVS) and the Coordinadora para o Estudio dos Mamiferos Mariños (CEMMA).
