Once again, a northern gannet rehabilitated at CRAM-Q (Marine Animals Rehabilitation Center of Quiaios) equipped with a GPS/GSM device optimized by the MarPro Project decided to continue its journey by going south heading to african waters (yellow track).
Released on the 4th of July, the gannet spent two days on the waters between Figueira da Foz and S. Pedro de Moel. Posteriorly, it went down south to the Vila Nova de Milfontes area were it stayed for a couple more days.
When comparing to the previously released gannet (red track), it is observable that the most recent animal chose a route closer to shore, while the previous gannet, when crossing the zone south of Lisbon chose a route closer to the platform limit.
After five days in national waters, the latest animal started the trip to Africa, appearing in the Moroccan coast, near Larache. From this zone it initiated a coastal movement very similar to the previous animal, with several areas of greater permanence times, and the last data received already places him south of Agadir, 1590km away from CRAM-Q.
